Review on 8 Technology Tools for Teachers

Image
ED271 has allowed me to explore the internet and come across many different platforms that can benefit students and teachers. In this post, I will be reviewing 8 technology tools I have encountered on my education journey. Moodle:  When I first entered U.O.G., my teachers made it a point to make students create a moodle account. At first, I did not know why moodle was so special to use? However, after trying out the platform, I understand why teachers like using it. Pros:  Moodle is a platform where students can turn in their assignments, take tests, answer questions, or communicate with the teacher. I feel it is much better then emailing a teacher your assignments. Once you submit your assignment, it can give you an email saying your assignment was submitted. I feel teachers and students benefit from this platform. Cons: Moodle logs the student out if they are not using the site, which is frustrating.  Moodle is also said to not be compatible with Google Chrome which is not

Welcome for Technology Tools

(Based on My Chemical Romance: Welcome to the Black Parade ) I changed the lyrics to "Welcome to the Black Parade" to show what I have learned in my ED271 class. Intro: When I was a young girl My teacher gave lots of presentations Pertaining to the class Bunch of slides and Powerpoints Just those two were used for education And making children pass If you look past that one tool There's much more that teachers could go use For students all alike It'll catch and affect them Forever in their educational journey Here are tools for you now When I was a young girl My teacher gave lots of presentations Pertaining to the class Bunch of slides and Powerpoints Just those two were used for education And making children pass Verse 1: Well first here's google docs and google forms and hangout And dont forget about google keep These google tools can help you communicate with all Without leaving the comfort of your room Chorus: Technology tools Tec

The Importance of Digital Saftey for Teachers and Students

Image: Father and son using a laptop. In my E271 class, all students were required to do a presentation on the topic, digital safety. The topics for digital safety were Fair use and Copy right, digital saftey, cyberbulling, textual harassment, sexting, pharming, and phishing. After listening to each presentation, I believe that  all topics  are important  for teachers and students to learn about. Allowing teachers and students to understand the rules of Copyright and Fair use would benefit them in order to avoid any copyright violation. According to Digital Citizenship's article "Copyright for Teachers" , teachers are not allowed to make photocopies of entire chapters or textbooks for students since it violates the copyright rules (Copyright for Teachers, n.d.).  Teaching safety and privacy, especially to students allows students to not share important information to the internet or strangers online. Techonology Giving A Helping Hand

Image of boy using tablet By being an elementary school teacher, I must be able to create or adjust a lesson plan that will benefit all students, including students with a disability. In addition, I must be make sure to be aware of different types of assistive technologies that can benefit all my students in their education.             Technology has proven to be very beneficial for everyone around the world. This is especially true for teachers where it has aided them in involving their students with a disability. In the video, “ How Assistive TechnologyEnables Dreams ” (2005), there was a student with a disability that made it challenging for him to use his limbs, which is challenging since he was in the music band. Although this student had this disability, the band director allowed the student to join the school band. The band director noticed the student was very passionate about playing, where if there was just one note he could hit, he was happy to do it. Through

Behind the Scenes of Team Bravo’s Presentation: “Factor Pair Up”

The game team Bravo chose to do a presentation on is “Factor Pair Up” from the website “Mathplayground”. The game is geared towards fifth graders, however, the game can be played by third graders and up.              A challenge Team Bravo faced during this assignment was choosing an educational game. Because most of members were studying to be an elementary school teacher, the group decided to choose games at the fifth grade level. From there, Team Bravo looked at many websites to choose an educational game.   A problem encountered when choosing an educational game was that the games the group liked were not free.   After making an account to play a game,  it would stop working after being played a few times. The website would pop an ad saying the player has reached their “free limit” and ask to make monthly payments to continue the game. This was unfortunate due to the game being very fun as well as educational for students.           The process on making a rubric for the o
